Larger Groups
If you would like to book accommodation for groups larger than 14, have a look at www.rjukan.co.uk. We offer accommodation in conjunction with this site, so together can cater for groups as large as 24. As detailed on their website, they have 2 apartments, one catering for up to 4 people, whilst the other can sleep 6. Please let me know via email if this better suits your particular requirement.

Cheap Flights to Norway
An excellent way of getting to Norway from the UK is with www.ryanair.com. This airline offers budget flights from Stansted, Liverpool, Glasgow and Newcastle to Oslo Torp. There are also direct flights available from Frankfurt and Milan to Torp, which is situated approximately 2.5 hours drive from Rjukan. Many more airlines fly into Norway, and other good budget websites are www.opodo.co.uk and www.norwegian.no.

Gives the reality of Nazi Germany's heavy-water production in Rjukan, rather than Kirk Douglas' Heroes of Telemark portrayal.

The women of Norway gather on the first Saturday of September each year to hike around Gaustatoppen. Strangely, it is one of the busiest nights for men on the prowl in Rjukan!

Krossobanen - www.krossobanen.no
Dating from 1928, Krossobanen is the oldest cable-car lift in the whole of Scandinavia. It was built to offer the community of Rjukan a way to escape from the shadows of the valley during the long winter months and into direct sunlight. The views from the top are simply breathtaking.
